FFFW - FULL FIGURED FASHION WEEK(END) Los Angeles

This October I was lucky enough to go to Full figured fashion week(end) in Los Angeles. It was a fun couple of days of Plus Size fashion, fashion shows and workshops. I got a chance to meet and network with some fabulous people in the industry. I got to meet R&B singer Kelly price, I got to photograph Miss Plus Amercia 2010, Latasha Haskins. We didn't do a "formal" photo shoot, we just took a couple of head shots in our hotel. However, she came out stunning! I also took a couple of shots of the gorgeous Rosie Mercado, who was sharing a room with Miss Latasha. I also met a gorgeous Korean Plus Size model named Vivian Kim. She came all the way from Korean to be part of FFFW.

Anyway, I just wanted to share a couple of my favorite images of the lovely ladies I photographed.

Queens of the Desert

So here I am trying to recap on what this Fall and Winter season has been like for me and my Photography.
Starting back in September I took on a project with Moxie Management to do a Plus size model search for the Next Queen of the Desert, Which is fashion editorial that would take place in Las Vegas. It would feature Plus Size models in Las vegas wearing high end designers. The model search ran all through August and September and was open to models all over the Country. Models were judged on overall look, goals, and achievements.

The winner of the Model search was Shaylene Renae, who is actually a native of Las Vegas. I went out to Las Vegas in October to photograph the Queens of the Desert. The editorial was shot of a course of 4 days and took place at locations Like, Beso/Eve (Eva Longoria's Restaurant and club), the actual desert, and the strip. Images were also to be used and published in Plus Model Magazine's winter 2010 publication. We had such a great team of stylists, Make-up artists, Hairstylists, Wardrobe stylists and assistants. The models were Rosie Mercado, Tina Sanchez, and Shaylene Renae.

Some of the fabulous Designers featured were Anna Scholz, Dan Trentacosta,Favianna Coture, Torrid, Adrianna Pappel, Michael Kors, Karen Kane and Larissa Navarro.

...And to wrap this all up! I had such an amazing time! The amazing people I met, the gorgeous Plus ladies I photographed, the side of Las Vegas I've never seen, and all the trouble shooting and learning of new equipment made this experience beyond compare.

Thank you to the entire dedicated team involved in the QOTD!

Hope you enjoy the Photos!

Test with Renata

A little over a month ago I did a test with model Renta Gar, who will soon be with Ford Modeling Agency, SF. My friend Bianca Guido did Hair and Make-up. It's always fabulous working with Bianca, she is extremely talented and very professional!

Talking about choosing the worst day of the year to shoot on location here in the Bay Area! We shot somewhere around the Los Gatos area and the temperature was at its highest for the year, 113 degrees, if I'm not mistaken?! We literally shot for like 20 minutes because the sun was sooo harsh and very uncomfortable to work in.

After the shoot....

We then raced to the nearest 7/11 and all got ICEE'S and waters! What a relief! We were all a little cranky after the shoot and weren't quite sure what the outcome of the image would look like since we rushed right through it. Personally, I think we did a pretty darn good job! Here are some of my favorite.

Rebel in the Night

A few months ago I collaborated on a shoot with model Fanny Diaz and Make-up Artist/Hairstylist Bianca Guido, who were both a blast to work with. I've worked with Fanny on another shoot a few years ago, and met Bianca for the first time. Bianca, definitely blew me away with her Make-up and Hair skills! We all had a great time working together, shooting around downtown San Jose @ 10pm, yes at NIGHT! :) It was a new experience for all of us, and here are some of my favorite shots.

Lifestyle with Sumer

A little over 1 month ago I collaborated on a shoot with the lovely Sumer Noelle, Plus Size model, and the Fabulous Tina Sanchez. We did a Lifestyle "Nautical" theme editorial out by the San Francisco Golden Gate bridge. After a few minor bumps in the road, extreme winds, and a few unstable dock boards...I thought we had a pretty awesome shoot!

Here are few of my favorite shots!

Test shoot with Angelica Paa

I know I haven't been updating as much as I would like... I've taken on a few extra projects this Summer that have been keeping me extra busy! I will slowly be updating my Blog over the next couple of weeks with the work I've done over the Summer and current projects! :D

So I did a test shoot about a month ago with Angelica Paa. She is a newer model looking to get signed with Ford modeling agency. We went out to my Co-workers horse ranch in Palo Alto to shoot. It was such an incredible experience, not only did we get to shoot, we also got a professional horse show, pet some gorgeous horses, and met a funny little Rooster named Napoleon. So here are a few of my favorite shots.
